Through supporting the collective efforts of our stakeholders and all Queenslanders, BQ will continue to protect our state and Australia from emerging plant and animal pests and diseases and effectively manage existing ones.

As our biosecurity officer, you will provide operational services that protect and enhance animal biosecurity and welfare in Queensland. With Queensland being affected by more biosecurity incursions than any other Australian state or territory, your efforts will be integral in helping the government prevent, respond to, and recover from biosecurity concerns that threaten our environment and economy. This role is crucial to supporting Biosecurity Queensland investigate reports under the Biosecurity Act 2014, including cattle tick outbreaks and investigating reports under the Animal Care and Protection Act 2001 for potential animal welfare offences including Cruelty and Duty of Care for livestock and domestic animals.

You will know you're achieving success in the role when you:
  • are dedicated to protecting and enhancing animal biosecurity and welfare
  • can manage your own work priorities, ensuring assigned tasks are undertaken promptly and meet the project deliverables
