Job summary

Alignerr is seeking a Biochemistry Subject Matter Expert (PhD level) to contribute to AI training by crafting advanced biochemistry problems and high-quality solutions. The role focuses on protein folding, enzymology, and molecular genetics, testing AI performance and improving model reasoning.

The contract is hourly, fully remote with flexible hours (10–40 hours/week). Ideal candidates communicate complex ideas clearly and work independently without prior AI experience.

Qualifications

• PhD in Biochemistry or related field is required or in final stages.
• Deep foundational knowledge in one or more areas: structural biology, enzymology, cellular metabolism, bioinformatics, or molecular genetics.
• Able to communicate complex biological and chemical concepts clearly in written form.
• Highly detail-oriented when reviewing chemical equations, molecular diagrams, and experimental protocols.
• Self-motivated and comfortable working independently.
• No prior AI experience required.

Responsibilities

• Design challenging problems across domains like nucleic acid chemistry, proteomics, structural biology, and drug-target interactions to test AI performance.
• Author gold-standard, step-by-step technical solutions as benchmarks for AI reasoning.
• Audit AI outputs for technical accuracy and adherence to scientific standards.
• Refine AI reasoning by identifying errors and providing structured feedback to improve model accuracy.
• Work independently on assignments asynchronously.

About The Role

We're looking for PhD-level Biochemists to help evaluate and improve the next generation of AI models. Your deep scientific expertise will directly shape how AI understands and reasons through complex topics like protein folding, metabolic flux, enzyme kinetics, and molecular genetics — making a real impact on the future of scientific AI.

This is a fully remote, flexible contract role. No prior AI experience required.

What You'll Do

• Design Challenging Problems — Craft advanced biochemistry questions across domains like nucleic acid chemistry, proteomics, structural biology, and drug-target interactions to rigorously test AI performance
• Author Gold-Standard Solutions — Write precise, step-by-step technical solutions that serve as benchmarks for high-level scientific reasoning in AI systems
• Audit AI Outputs — Evaluate AI-generated biochemical pathways, molecular structures, and mathematical proofs for technical accuracy and adherence to scientific standards
• Refine AI Reasoning — Identify logical errors such as incorrect stoichiometry, flawed stereochemistry, or misapplied biochemical principles, and provide structured feedback to improve model accuracy
• Work Independently — Complete assignments asynchronously on your own schedule

Who You Are

• Holds a PhD (completed or in final stages) in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or a closely related field
