Job summary

Michael Page is seeking a BI DevOps Lead to shape the future of enterprise analytics from the ground up in Melbourne. You will govern Power BI reports, dashboards, and data models while maturing BI DevOps practices, including CI/CD, automation, and release processes.

You will mentor BI Developers and analysts, drive governance and standardisation, and collaborate with data engineers, DBAs, architects, and business stakeholders to deliver scalable reporting solutions for the public sector client.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience developing enterprise-scale Power BI solutions including dashboards, reports, semantic models, DAX, and data modelling.
• Proven track record establishing governance, standards, and operating models for BI platforms.
• Strong experience implementing DevOps and CI/CD practices within BI environments.
• Experience managing release processes, deployment pipelines, version control, testing, QA, and production support.
• Ability to lead and mentor BI Developers, Analysts, and data teams.
• Ability to balance governance with business agility and drive change without direct authority.

Responsibilities

• Lead governance, release management, and deployment of Power BI reports, dashboards, datasets, semantic models, and analytics solutions.
• Establish and mature BI DevOps practices including CI/CD pipelines, automation, version control, testing, and deployment.
• Act as gatekeeper for BI production releases ensuring quality, security, and compliance.
• Provide technical leadership and mentoring to BI Developers, Analysts, and data teams.
• Drive consistency and standardisation across reports, dashboards, datasets, and assets.
• Collaborate with Data Engineers, DBAs, Architects, BAs, and stakeholders to deliver enterprise reporting.
• Develop and maintain release governance, change management, and production support processes.
• Assess BI landscape to improve platform maturity, governance, and delivery capability.

A successful BI DevOps Lead should have:

• Extensive experience developing enterprise-scale Power BI solutions, including dashboards, reports, semantic models, DAX, Power Query, and data modelling.
• A proven track record of moving beyond report development to establish governance, standards, and operating models for BI platforms.
• Strong experience implementing DevOps and CI/CD practices within Power BI, Microsoft Fabric, Azure DevOps, or similar analytics environments.
• Experience managing release processes, deployment pipelines, version control, testing, quality assurance, and production support.
• Experience guiding and influencing development teams, providing technical leadership, code reviews, mentoring, and architectural direction.
• The ability to balance governance and control with business agility, ensuring high-quality outcomes without slowing delivery.
• Collaborative team player, proactive, influential, and comfortable driving change without relying on direct authority.
