Job summary

RSPCA NSW seeks a Behaviour Trainer to assess and train canines and felines for potential rehoming. The role focuses on evaluating temperament, developing enrichment programs, and modifying behaviour to improve rehoming outcomes.

You will observe animal behaviour, address needs for rehoming, assist with intake plans, and support shelter operations while following fear-free training methods and maintaining strong communication with the team.

Qualifications

• Certificate II in Companion Animal Studies is desirable
• Enrolment or willingness to undertake Certificate IV in Behaviour Training
• Current Class C driver's licence
• Minimum three months of experience in a similar environment
• Experience and ability to observe and interpret canine and feline body language including facial expressions and vocalisations
• Proficiency in fear-free and reward-based training techniques
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• National Police Check and Medical Declaration required
