Job summary

Journey Connect is seeking a Behaviour Support Practitioner to work with children, adolescents and adults with complex needs in Townsville. The role focuses on assessment, formulation and intervention within a supportive multidisciplinary team.

You will develop and implement Functional Behaviour Assessments, PBSPs, and risk management plans while coaching families and schools. A degree in a relevant field and NDIS clearances are required.

Qualifications

• Must hold a degree in a relevant field (Psychology, OT, Speech Pathology, Social Work or Education).
• NDIS Worker Screening Clearance and Orientation Module completed.
• Strong communication skills and collaborative approach with families and teams.

Responsibilities

• Face-to-face assessment to understand the person, environment and situation.
• Complete Functional Behaviour Assessments.
• Build Interim and Comprehensive Positive Behaviour Support Plans.
• Understand and plan risk management.
• Develop communication, emotional regulation and independence skills.
• Coach families, schools and support teams.
• Collaborative multidisciplinary intervention.
• Work to reduce restrictive practices.

The Role

You’ll work directly with children, adolescents and adults with complex support needs across Townsville and surrounding areas.

Your work will include:

• Face-to-face getting to know the person, their environment and situation

• Completing Functional Behaviour Assessments

• Building Interim and Comprehensive Positive Behaviour Support Plans

• Understanding Risk - completing assessment and management plans

• Building communication, emotional regulation and independence skills

• Coaching families, schools and support teams

• Collaborative multidisciplinary intervention

• Restrictive practice reduction and elimination strategies

Who We're Looking For

Core Practitioner Pathway

Ideal for practitioners who are newer to NDIS Behaviour Support and working toward, or currently recognised at, Core level under the PBS Capability Framework.

Proficient Practitioner Pathway

For experienced practitioners with a strong track record of independent clinical practice, functional assessment, formulation and intervention across a diverse caseload.

Therapist-to-Behaviour Support Pathway

We are actively seeking clinicians who want to bring their professional discipline into Behaviour Support.

Salary

Core Practitioner

$90,000 - $105,000 + Superannuation

Proficient Practitioner

$110,000 - $125,000 + Superannuation

Full-time position

25 billable hours within a 38-hour week
