Job description

Provide high-quality medical care to patients within the Department of Medicine at Alice Springs Hospital, under the guidance and supervision of specialist medical staff. Contribute to the supervision, teaching and development of junior medical officers.

Registrar positions are suitable for doctors from postgraduate year 3 (PGY3) and above, including Basic Physician Trainees (BPTs) and doctors from other relevant training pathways seeking experience in General and Acute Care Medicine.

The Department provides broad clinical experience in General and Acute Care Medicine, with potential rotations through Cardiology, Oncology and Nephrology subject to availability. ICU placements may also be available for suitably experienced trainees.

BPTs are supported in undertaking the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP) Basic Training program with a structured physician teaching program. Registrars are expected to actively participate in training, professional development and cultural orientation opportunities.

To be considered for this role, candidates must demonstrate the following essential qualifications, skills and experience:

  • Eligible for general registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
  • A minimum of 3 years postgraduate medical experience, including relevant clinical experience in Medicine and demonstrated capacity to undertake the responsibilities of a Registrar.
  • Demonstrated clinical skills and commitment to providing safe, high-quality patient care.
