Job summary

Scone Equine Hospital is seeking a hands-on team member to join Australia’s largest equine hospital. The role requires physical tasks and the ability to work in a fast-paced hospital environment around horses and staff.

Experience with horse care is preferred. A driver’s licence is essential and the roster offers flexibility with weekend work. You will be part of a large, cooperative team delivering 24-hour patient care.

Qualifications

• Experience in horse husbandry (mucking out, feeding, watering).
• Cleaning areas within the clinic with varying cleaning methods (Power wash, disinfecting, hosing).
• Driver's licence essential.
• Work effectively in a small team.
• Follow policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Perform the physical requirements of the role in a fast-paced equine hospital environment.
• Be comfortable around young horses and assist in care of neonates and adults.
• Collaborate with a large team of veterinarians, interns, nurses and barn crew.
• Contribute to maintaining a 24-hour care facility and high patient load.

Scone Equine Hospital has a large team of specialist veterinarians, interns, nurses, and barn crew working together to provide 24-hour care for critically ill neonates, adults, and operative and post-operative patients. Approximately 2000 patients are seen annually, including a high caseload of neonatal and adult medicine and surgical cases.

The Role

Applicants must be able to perform the physical requirements of the role (lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling) and able to work in a fast-paced work environment. Previous horse experience is preferred and the ability to confidently work around young horses is desirable.
