Job description

Cafe Harmony is seeking a skilled and passionate Barista to join our team on a casual basis with full time hours. Based in Palmview, QLD. As a Barista, you will be the face of our café, crafting exceptional coffee beverages and creating memorable experiences for our customers. This position is central to maintaining the high standards that define Cafe Harmony and plays a key role in building lasting relationships with our clientele.

This is a full time casual position working Wednesday to Sunday - all morning start shifts.

What you'll be doing

Preparing and serving high-quality espresso-based drinks, including lattes, cappuccinos, flat whites and speciality coffees

Operating and maintaining espresso machines and other café equipment to ensure consistent beverage quality

Taking customer orders efficiently and accurately, whilst providing friendly and attentive service

Maintaining a clean and organised work station and café environment, adhering to health and safety standards

Steaming milk to the perfect temperature and texture for various coffee beverages

Handling cash and card transactions accurately and professionally

Suggesting menu items and upselling beverages or food products to enhance the customer experience

Building positive relationships with regular customers and contributing to a welcoming café atmosphere

Assisting with general café duties such as restocking supplies and supporting the wider team during busy periods

Assist with socials, taking photos and posting

Assist with the delegation and training of younger staff

What we're looking for

Proven experience as a Barista or in a similar café environment, with demonstrated expertise in coffee preparation

Strong knowledge of different coffee beans, brewing methods and flavour profiles

Excellent milk frothing and latte art skills

Outstanding customer service skills with the ability to remain calm and friendly during peak service times

A passion for delivering consistently high-quality beverages and exceptional customer experiences

Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining cleanliness and hygiene standards

Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple customer orders

Reliable, punctual and flexible approach to casual work arrangements

Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team

Food handling certification or willingness to obtain one
