Job summary

ACCIONA is seeking a Barge Master to take full accountability for the safe, compliant operation of a non-self-propelled jack-up barge in Western Australia. You will implement the SMS, coordinate marine interfaces, and ensure crew, equipment and emergency systems remain mission-ready.

You will act as the vessel's primary marine contact with ACCIONA, the client and service providers, holding overriding authority under the SMS to make safety decisions for life, vessel and environment.

Qualifications

• High-risk licences when required under WHS laws.
• Jack-up barge experience: 2–3 campaigns in Assistant Barge Master or equivalent.
• Vessel SMS knowledge and procedures (RAV-BEV-SMS-000).
• STCW Basic Safety Training: PSSR, PST, FPFF GMDSS (A3).
• ECDIS endorsement (if fitted) and Construction Induction Card (White Card).
• Ability to obtain Fit for Work medical and National Crime Check.

Responsibilities

• Hold ultimate responsibility for crew and vessel safety.
• Implement and maintain the vessel SMS and environmental policy.
• Approve risk assessments and enforce permit-to-work processes.
• Lead inductions, drills and crew competency checks.
• Command mooring, unmooring and safe port operations.
• Direct emergency response, musters and lifesaving equipment.
• Maintain SMS records and report to shore management.
