Job summary

Virgin Australia is seeking a dedicated Baggage Handler for a permanent part-time role in Brisbane. You will work on the ramp, loading/unloading baggage and freight, with duties spanning door operations and boarding stairs.

The role is physically demanding and outdoors, with a rotating roster 7 days a week. You’ll be supported by full training, a stable role, and benefits including extended annual leave and shift penalties.

Qualifications

• Ability to lift and move baggage up to 32 kg.
• Hold a current Australian driver’s licence (Ps or higher).
• Have unlimited, unrestricted working rights in Australia.
• Be available for a 7-day rotating roster (including mornings/evenings/weekends/holidays).
• Comfort working outdoors in varying weather conditions.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload baggage and freight across the bag room and ramp.
• Assist with aircraft door operations and boarding stairs and load special items.
• Operate baggage tugs and other ramp equipment.
• Work in a fast-paced environment where teamwork, safety and reliability matter.
• Maintain focus on safety and physical performance during shifts.

We’re looking for great people to join our Pit Crew — the team of Baggage Handlers who help keep our flights moving safely and on time.

This is a permanent, part-time role offering genuine job stability, great benefits and opportunities to build a long-term career with Virgin Australia. You will work on a rotating roster (so must be available 7 days a week), with the ability to pick up extra shifts.

What you’ll be doing

As part of our Pit Crew, you’ll work across the bag room and ramp, helping safely load and unload baggage and freight from our aircraft.

You’ll also help with aircraft door operations and boarding stairs, load special items including pets, and operate baggage tugs and other ramp equipment.

No two shifts are exactly the same. It’s a fast-paced environment where teamwork, reliability and safety matter every day.

It’s also a highly physical, hands-on job. You’ll spend much of your shift on your feet, regularly lifting and moving baggage weighing up to 32kg, and working outdoors in a range of weather conditions. If you enjoy active work, being part of a close-knit team and working around aircraft, this could be a great fit.

You’ll be great in this role if you…

• Enjoy physical, hands-on work and are comfortable regularly lifting and moving bags up to 32kg
• Are happy working outdoors in hot, cold, wet or windy conditions
• Are reliable, safety-focused and work well as part of a team
• Hold a current Australian driver’s licence (at least “Ps” and above)
• Have unlimited, unrestricted working rights in Australia
• Can provide 24/7 availability for a rotating roster, including early mornings, evenings, weekends and public holidays
