Job summary

Mimco, a design-led brand born in Melbourne, is seeking a Bag Designer to join its team. You will design across bags and small leather goods, translating seasonal direction into commercially successful collections while collaborating with Buying, Merchandising and suppliers.

You will contribute by developing products aligned with brand strategy, ensuring cohesion across categories, and leading fit directions with the Technical Designer to maintain quality and scale.

Qualifications

• Qualification or industry experience in design
• Experience in Leather, Accessories highly desirable
• Strong creative eye with the ability to turn briefs and trends into commercial designs
• Confident communicator and collaborative team player
• Open to feedback and able to adapt designs to meet brand goals
• Highly organised, detail-focused and deadline driven
• Commercially minded with a strong understanding of the customer.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop products aligned with brand strategy that fulfill customer needs and provide ongoing innovation in designated categories
• Align product details and aesthetics across categories to ensure monthly collection cohesion. Ensure the collection resonates with target customer
• Work with the wider design team on product design and development before range sessions with the Head of Design, Buyers and Production Manager
• Oversee the completion of briefing sheets for all styles within nominated categories, ensuring they are handed over to the Technical Designer according to the critical path
• Lead fit direction with the Technical Designer to maintain consistent fit and high-quality workmanship
• Communicate styling adjustments post-fittings to the Merchandise Planner, Buying and Production Manager, addressing any design concerns, potential delays, or price adjustments
• Review weekly sales reports to analyse best sellers, sell-through rates, and any issues with specific styles or colours.
