Job summary

Macquarie Group in Sydney is seeking a highly motivated Java Developer to join the DevOps Account team supporting front office trading systems in Equity Derivatives. You will collaborate with stakeholders to define requirements, code, test, and participate in production deployment and upgrades.

The role emphasizes high-performance, low-latency trading applications and strong Capital Markets experience, including Equities Trading and DMA.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands-on Java Full Stack development with Java, Spring Boot, REST APIs and microservices.
• Strong Capital Markets experience in Equities Trading, DMA and electronic trading platforms.
• Experience with high-performance distributed systems and messaging protocols, including FIX.
• Understand trade lifecycle, order management, execution workflows, and market data processing.
• Experience building scalable, low-latency trading applications.
• Knowledge of Equity Finance, Securities Lending, Prime Brokerage, and Equity Swaps is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with stakeholders and analysts to define requirements and work with the team on coding and testing.
• Participate in production deployment and upgrade tasks, with a focus on stability.
• Provide production support and engage with users of the system.
• Deliver platform enhancements following industry best practices and maintain quality standards.

As a highly motivated and experienced Java Developer, you will join our DevOps Account team, which supports front office trading systems in our Equity Derivatives business at Macquarie. These platforms provide support to our global trading desks across Sydney, Asia, Europe and the US.

What role will you play?

In this role, you will collaborate with stakeholders and analysts to define requirements and work with the team on coding and testing. You will also participate in production deployment and upgrade tasks. Production support is a key learning component of the role, enabling you to engage directly with users of the system and ensure the stability of the production environment.

You will deliver platform enhancements that follow industry best practices. Additionally, you will build relationships with both technical and non-technical stakeholders, become a subject matter expert for third-level queries and problem-solving, and ensure that quality standards and a high level of professionalism are maintained at all times.

What You Offer

• 5 years + of hands‑on experience in Java Full Stack development using Java, Spring Boot, REST APIs, microservices, and modern front‑end technologies.
• Strong Capital Markets experience, with expertise in Equities Trading, DMA, and electronic trading platforms.
• Proven experience with high‑performance distributed systems and messaging protocols, including FIX.
• Solid understanding of the trade lifecycle, order management, execution workflows, and market data processing.
• Experience building and supporting scalable, low‑latency, mission‑critical trading applications.
• Knowledge of Equity Finance, Securities Lending, Prime Brokerage, and Equity Swaps is highly desirable.
