Job summary

Pentana Solutions in Australia is hiring senior back-end engineers to own services end to end within a product squad, using C# and .NET on Azure. You'll craft well-structured, well-tested back-end systems built to last, with room to influence architecture and patterns.

You'll work closely with a product manager, QA and squad lead, delivering scalable services against fixed timelines while embracing AI-enabled tooling to move fast and maintain quality.

Qualifications

• Senior-level hands-on C# and .NET experience.

Pentana Solutions has been powering the Australian automotive industry for over 50 years. We're continuing to invest significantly in our product, further enhancing our existing platform with a modern AI-led approach. Around 1 in 3 of our staff use internal AI tools every business day. The opportunity:

You'll own back-end services end to end inside a product squad, architecture, implementation, QA and deployment, in modern C# and .NET on Azure. Your job is services that are well structured, well tested and built to last, not just built to work.

You'll set the bar on back-end quality for your squad, the patterns other engineers follow, and the standard code gets held to. Back end is where you'll go deepest, but we're not boxing you in, you'll cross into the front end when the squad needs it, and you don't need to arrive already knowing HTMX.

Why this role exists right now:

We're building at pace across multiple streams, and we need senior engineers who bring real architectural judgement, not just throughput. Someone who can look at a service, see where it'll creak in twelve months, and build it right the first time.

You'll work inside a squad alongside a product manager, BA, QA and your squad lead, with DevOps and infrastructure handling the platform so you can focus on the services themselves.

What you'll bring:

• Deep, hands-on C# and .NET experience at a genuinely senior level.


• Strong grounding in software design patterns and clean architecture, you build things to be maintained, not just to pass a demo.


• AI-native ways of working. You build with AI, prompt it well, and use it to move faster and troubleshoot. If you'd rather write everything from scratch by hand, this isn't the place.


• Comfort owning a service end to end, development through QA and deployment, to a standard other engineers can follow.


• Azure experience, or the ability to ramp quickly. The cloud decision is made, come ready to work in it.


• DevOps exposure (Terraform, Bicep, GitHub) would be an added bonus, not a requirement.


• Genuinely back-end by preference, that lean needs to be real, even though you'll cross over sometimes.

What to expect:

Two things to know going in. First, we build with AI, scaffolding and troubleshooting with it as standard. Second, this is build, build, build against fixed timelines on a two-year programme. There's room to push for a better architectural approach, but not to gold-plate for its own sake. Come ready to ship well-built services at pace.
