Your resume and cover letter, tailored to exactly what they’re hiring for.
Baby Sensory is seeking a part-time Class Leader to run our baby classes in Pascoe Vale, Coburg and Reservoir. You’ll teach 2 or 3 days a week, with 4 paid prep hours, and classes run around school drop-offs.
You’ll work 40 weeks a year, in line with Victorian school terms, with a few weeks paid annual leave; training is provided and you’ll be paid $33.60 per hour during probation.
Picture 20 babies gazing up at you in awe as you twirl around the room in a glowing cape, and a chorus of “Wow!” ringing out. If that sounds like the best day at work you could imagine, you might be exactly the person we’re looking for.
Baby Sensory is a multi award winning program for babies from birth to 13 months, created by Dr Lin Day, one of the UK’s leading parenting experts. Every class is packed with sounds, sights, textures, music, dance, signing, massage and bonding, all designed to support brain development and social and emotional skills. Our team runs classes for local families at six venues across Merri-bek, Darebin and Brimbank.
This is a permanent part time role running our classes in Pascoe Vale, Coburg and Reservoir.
Tuesdays: Pascoe Vale
You’ll run classes on 2 or 3 of those days, plus 4 paid hours each week for prep and equipment handover. That’s 2.5 or 3.5 days a week overall. Class days run for 4.25 or 5.5 hours, and start times can fit around school drop off.
You’ll work 40 weeks a year, in line with the Victorian school terms, so the school holidays can be yours. Around 3 of those weeks are paid, using the annual leave you build up, and the rest are unpaid. If you’d like to work some holiday weeks, we’re happy to talk about it.
2 class days a week: about $18,500 to $22,500 a year
3 class days a week: about $25,000 to $30,500 a year
Figures are based on 40 weeks worked plus paid annual leave. They’re rounded, before tax and include super. Extra cover days, birthday parties and weekend specials are paid on top (but there is no expectation to work additional hours).
Collect that week’s equipment and pack it into your car (paid)
Prepare and practise at home (paid) until you’re confident with the activities, developmental information and music
Set up at the venue before families arrive
Lead 2 to 3 classes a day, following an agenda and content written by Dr Lin Day
Clean, sanitise and reset equipment between classes
Capture gorgeous photos and videos of babies and parents for our socials
Drop the kit back to the unit, or hand it on to the next Class Leader, at the end of your week
You can light up a room while staying tuned in to it, so every parent and baby feels comfortable joining in at their own pace. You’re warm, enthusiastic and a great communicator, and you’re genuinely open to learning and taking on feedback. You’re also meticulous about setting up, cleaning and sanitising (singing in tune is optional!).
Experience caring for babies, or a real interest in infant development. No teaching qualifications needed, and being a parent absolutely counts.
Your own car with a good sized boot
To be comfortable lifting equipment boxes and being on your feet most of the day
A Working With Children Check and First Aid Certificate, or to get them quickly. We reimburse the cost of both.
Full training with shadowing, coaching and our 2 day virtual Class Leader Training on 12 and 13 January 2027 (you’ll need to be available for both days)
$33.60 per hour, including super, during probation and training
Team Leader positions as our team grows, and the opportunity to own your own Baby Sensory franchise down the track
A discount at the Baby Sensory shop
Extra hours, cover days, birthday parties and weekend specials if you’d like them
