Job summary

Grant Thornton Australia Limited’s Digital team seeks a Software Engineering Manager to lead the custom applications and integrations that support the business. You will set the technical direction, own delivery and ensure reliability, partnering with the department head on architecture, security and risk decisions.

This hands-on leadership role combines strategy with practical engineering involvement, guiding design decisions and strengthening DevOps practices while delivering secure, scalable

Qualifications

• Experience leading software development teams and delivering complex applications.
• Strong production experience with Python and frameworks such as FastAPI or Django.
• Experience designing and operating APIs, event-driven integrations and relational databases.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical design and set practical standards for applications, APIs, integrations and data access.
• Translate business needs into technical options balancing delivery, cost, risk and maintainability.
• Plan engineering delivery, allocate capacity, manage dependencies and communicate progress and risks.
• Own the software development lifecycle, including code review, automated testing, QA and releases.
• Oversee Azure application security, reliability, performance, cost, CI/CD, IaC and observability.
• Lead, coach and develop the engineering team while remaining involved in design reviews.
