Data Agility is seeking a hands-on Databricks Architect to lead a data platform engagement for a public sector client in Melbourne on a short-term contract. You’ll design how the data is set up in Databricks, including governance, access and data sharing across the organisation, then turn findings into a practical roadmap.

You’ll work closely with the data team and business stakeholders, bridging technical design with business needs, applying Azure Databricks, Delta Lake and the broader Azure

Qualifications

• Strong SQL skills and data query abilities.
• Hands-on experience architecting solutions on Azure Databricks and the Microsoft Azure data stack.
• Technical BA experience: gathering requirements, workshops, and writing user stories in Agile.
• Ability to assess architecture options and deliver implementation roadmaps.
• Experience designing data platform governance and operating models.
• 3+ years in reporting or data analytics project delivery.

Data Agility is a specialist analytics and information management firm delivering AI and analytics solutions alongside data governance, quality, migration, integration, reporting, and the strategies that bring these capabilities together. We’re currently looking for a hands-on Databricks Architect with strong technical business analysis skills to lead a data platform engagement for one of our public sector clients for a short term contract.

The opportunity

This project is the first step in modernising a large data platform, proving the value of Azure Databricks before a wider rollout. You’ll lead the work, testing the approach on an existing reporting workload.

You’ll design how the data should be set up in Databricks, including governance, access and how data is shared across the organisation. Then you’ll turn your findings into a roadmap for the future. You’ll work closely with the data team and business stakeholders, bridging the technical design and what the business needs.

What you’ll bring

• Essential: Strong, hands-on experience architecting solutions on Azure Databricks and the broader Microsoft Azure data stack, such as Delta Lake, Unity Catalog, Data Factory and ADLS
• Essential: Technical BA experience: gathering requirements, running workshops, and writing user stories and integration specifications in an Agile environment
• A track record of assessing architecture options, including performance and cost trade-offs, and delivering implementation roadmaps
• Experience designing data platform governance and operating models
• At least 3 years in reporting and/or data analytics project delivery
• Strong SQL skills, plus Python or PySpark
• Confidence working with technical teams, business stakeholders and product owners
