Job summary

Westpac is seeking a hands-on AI Engineer to design, deploy and support Agentic AI solutions on AWS in a hybrid Sydney setting. You will own end-to-end delivery, working with stakeholders, data scientists and engineers to produce reliable, scalable AI systems.

The role requires 5+ years in enterprise environments, 2+ years AWS production work, and strong skills with AWS, Bedrock, LangChain and related tools. You will mentor engineers and promote secure, CI/CD‑driven practices across the team.

Qualifications

• 5+ years delivering solutions in large, complex enterprise environments.
• 2+ years hands-on experience designing, building and delivering AWS-based solutions in production.
• Strong hands-on expertise across AWS services, cloud architecture and engineering best practices.
• Experience deploying, monitoring and optimising AI solutions for accuracy, performance, cost, latency and reliability.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, deploy and support Agentic AI solutions on AWS.
• Develop intelligent automation capabilities leveraging AI, orchestration, robotics and document processing.
• Partner with business stakeholders to understand requirements and translate into scalable technical solutions.
• Collaborate with data scientists and engineers to operationalise models and optimise prompts.
• Monitor, troubleshoot and resolve production issues across APIs, workflows and data pipelines.
• Drive improvements in reliability, observability and governance.
