Job summary

Boeing Defence Australia is seeking an experienced Avionics Supervisor to lead maintenance on Apache aircraft at the Townsville facility. You will guide a skilled team, ensure QA and safety compliance, and drive continuous improvements in a high‑readiness environment.

Relocation to North Queensland is provided. A full Apache Type Rating and extensive Apache experience are required for this premier sovereign capability role.

Qualifications

  • Avionics supervisor experience with full Apache Type Rating and at least five years on Apache.
  • Strong leadership and mentoring abilities to guide a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Sound knowledge of aviation QA procedures and OH&S.

Responsibilities

  • Lead aircraft and component maintenance within your scope of authorisation.
  • Oversee QA by ensuring work passes inspection checkpoints with formal clearance.
  • Manage workloads and priorities to sustain high-tempo operations.
  • Maintain accurate technical documentation and competency logs.
  • Drive continuous improvement with practical technical solutions.
  • Support safety and compliance through workplace assessments.

What You'll Get To Do

As an Avionics Supervisor, you will be a cornerstone of our technical excellence and mission readiness. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Technical Leadership: Conduct aircraft and component maintenance within your scope of authorisation while guiding and mentoring team members to ensure technical proficiency and adherence to standards.
  • Quality & Compliance: Oversee quality assurance by ensuring work does not proceed past inspection checkpoints without formal clearance, and certify work by stamping documentation as authorised by the Responsible Manager.
  • Operational Management: Manage workloads by prioritising both your own tasks and the goals of your subordinates to ensure an efficient, high‑tempo workflow.
  • Documentation & Precision: Maintain impeccable standards of accuracy in all technical documentation, reports, and your personal Competency Log Book.
  • Continuous Improvement: Drive the team forward by proposing innovative solutions to technical problems and more effective methods of work.
  • Safety Stewardship: Assist the Team Leader in conducting workplace assessments to maintain a gold standard of safety and operational compliance.
What We Are Looking For
  • Specialist Expertise: Avionics Supervisor experience with full Apache Type Rating and a minimum of five years on Apache.
  • Qualified Skills: A minimum Certificate IV in Aeroskills (Avionics) or an international equivalent trade qualification. Aircraft Maintenance Licence (or willingness to attain one) a strong advantage.
  • Proven Capability: Demonstrated ability to use initiative, prioritise tasks, and work to tight timeframes with minimal supervision.
  • Collaborative Mindset: Success in building effective working relationships within complex organisational structures to meet team and business goals.
  • Technical Proficiency: A sound knowledge of aviation Quality Assurance (QA) procedures, aircraft maintenance/modification operating procedures, and Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S).
  • Attention to Detail: Proven experience using Technical Manuals/Publications and the ability to interpret complex technical drawings and directives.
  • Safety Readiness: Fit and able to operate safely around aircraft including working at heights.
  • Security Clearance: A willingness to undertake Australian Citizenship and obtain/maintain Australian Defence security requirements.
