Job summary

Airservices Australia seeks a Telecommunications Engineer to support satellite and microwave networks underpinning Air Traffic Control and aviation rescue services across Australia. The role offers location flexibility in Brisbane, Melbourne or Adelaide and involves solving complex telecom challenges in a safety‑critical, 24/7 environment.

You will investigate issues, provide specialist guidance, contribute to projects, and document procedures while travelling to Airservices sites as needed.

Qualifications

• A relevant degree in engineering or equivalent qualification.
• Eligibility for registration as a Professional Engineer.
• Australian citizenship and ability to obtain NV1 security clearance.
• Minimum 3 years' experience in microwave or satellite telecoms.
• Experience with RF electronics and telecoms engineering.
• Ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues and communicate clearly.

Responsibilities

• Investigate, diagnose and resolve telecom issues; implement effective solutions.
• Maintain satellite and microwave communications systems.
• Provide technical advice to internal stakeholders and customers.
• Prepare technical reports, specifications and operational documentation.
• Contribute to projects involving telecom infrastructure and services.
• Manage incidents and changes using platforms like ServiceNow.
• Identify opportunities to improve telecom systems and service delivery.
• Collaborate with engineering, project teams and vendors; travel to Airservices sites as required.
