Job summary

Fleet Management Solutions Australia (FMSA) is hiring for an Automotive Installation Technician in Rockhampton. You’ll install GPS tracking devices, in-vehicle cameras and other electronics across cars, trucks and machinery.

The role involves working with 12V/24V wiring, testing, fault finding and on-site installations. Training is provided, and occasional travel to sites is expected in a growing, Australian-owned business.

Qualifications

• Experience in automotive electrical work or vehicle accessories is desirable.
• Basic understanding of vehicle wiring and electrical systems.
• Formal auto electrical qualifications are an advantage, but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Install GPS tracking devices, in-vehicle cameras and other accessories.
• Work with 12V and 24V vehicle electrical systems.
• Route and secure wiring neatly and safely.
• Test equipment, diagnose faults and troubleshoot installations.
• Work independently at customer locations and on mine sites.
• Operate one of our company installation vehicles.

What we’re looking for

• Experience in automotive electrical work, vehicle accessories, 4WD installations, car audio, communications equipment or similar practical work.
• Basic understanding of vehicle wiring and electrical systems.
• Good attention to detail and pride in workmanship.
• Reliability, initiative and a willingness to learn.
• Ability to work independently and communicate professionally with customers.
• Current driver's licence.

Formal auto electrical qualifications are an advantage, but not essential.

Working hours and travel

This is a full-time position based in Rockhampton, generally working Monday to Friday.

Most installations are completed locally or throughout Central Queensland.

Occasional overnight travel is an essential requirement of the position. Some projects may require several consecutive days away from home.

Flexibility with starting and finishing times is required, and occasional Saturday work may be necessary.

Accommodation and reasonable work‑related travel expenses are covered by FMSA. Applicable overtime and allowances will be paid in accordance with employment requirements.
