Job summary

Kuipers Engineering in Windsor, NSW, Australia, is offering an apprenticeship for a Certificate III in Automotive Electrical Technology. You will join a specialist manufacturer that outfits emergency service vehicles for Police, fire, rescue and ambulance fleets nationwide.

You will assist qualified auto electricians, learn wiring diagrams, fault-finding, and installation of electrical systems on vehicles, while upholding safety and quality standards.

Qualifications

• Must be eligible for apprenticeship/traineeship in Australia.
• Citizenship or residency status allowing full working rights in Australia.

Responsibilities

• Assist qualified auto electricians with installation, diagnosis and repair of electrical systems in vehicles.
• Support wiring loom fitting, batteries, alternators, starter motors, and lighting systems.
• Learn to read and interpret wiring diagrams and electrical schematics.
• Assist with fault-finding and testing using diagnostic equipment.
• Help install auxiliary electrical equipment on emergency vehicles (lighting, sirens, communications).
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organised work area according to safety standards.
• Keep records of work, parts used and time spent on jobs.
• Attend TAFE/RTO training to complete the Certificate III in Automotive Electrical Technology.
• Follow supervisor instructions and increase independence as skills develop.

Duties will involve:

• Assist qualified auto electricians with the installation, diagnosis, and repair of electrical systems in vehicles
• Support the fitting of wiring looms, batteries, alternators, starter motors, and lighting systems
• Learn to read and interpret wiring diagrams and electrical schematics
• Assist with fault-finding and testing of electrical faults using diagnostic equipment
• Help install auxiliary and specialised electrical equipment (e.g. lighting, sirens, communication systems on emergency vehicles)
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organised work area in line with workplace health and safety standards
• Keep accurate records of work completed, parts used, and time spent on jobs
• Attend TAFE/RTO training as required to complete the Certificate III in Automotive Electrical Technology
• Follow instructions from supervisors and tradespeople, working towards increasing independence as skills develop
• Handle tools, equipment, and vehicles with care and in accordance with manufacturer and safety guidelines
