Job summary

WesTrac in Dubbo is seeking an Auto Electrician for our workshop. You will diagnose, repair and maintain CAT electrical systems, perform fault finding and install components to OEM standards in a hands‑on role within a busy workshop.

You will bring a Certificate III in Automotive Electrotechnology, proven rebuilds experience and a safety‑first mindset. Relocation and a strong career path with WesTrac Institute opportunities are available.

Qualifications

  • Experience diagnosing and repairing CAT electrical systems in mining/construction.
  • Proven ability to rebuild major components and perform fault finding.
  • Strong commitment to safety and workshop cleanliness.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, repair and maintain CAT electrical and monitoring systems.
  • Perform fault finding, testing and QA checks with diagnostic tools.
  • Install and commission electrical components, harnesses and sensors.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, efficient workshop and collaborate with team.

About The Opportunity
WesTrac | Auto Electrician - Workshop
Join our Dubbo Workshop Team and be part of a highly skilled team delivering industry-leading electrical diagnostics, repairs and rebuild support on CAT equipment to world-class standards. You’ll take ownership of fault finding, electrical repairs, component installations and commissioning activities within our workshop, ensuring every machine leaves safe, reliable and ready for peak performance.
What You’ll Do

  • Diagnose, repair and maintain electrical, electronic and monitoring systems on CAT machines and components
  • Conduct fault finding, testing and quality assurance checks using specialised diagnostic tools and equipment
  • Install, calibrate and commission electrical components, harnesses, sensors and control systems to OEM standards
  • Maintain a clean, safe and efficient workshop environment while working collaboratively with Supervisors and peers

What You’ll Bring
  • Certificate III in Automotive Electrotechnology (or equivalent)
  • Proven rebuilds/major component overhaul/assembly experience
  • CAT or comparable surface mining gear; strong diagnostics/fault‑finding
  • Proactive, safety‑first mindset; unrestricted driver’s licence
