Job summary

NextSense is seeking an Auslan Language Model for Early Intervention at our Blackburn site. The role supports children who are deaf or hard of hearing and their families to develop Auslan language skills, build confidence, and connect with Deaf Culture.

The position offers flexibility, two weeks of additional leave, and access to not-for-profit salary packaging benefits. This flexible permanent part-time role requires a minimum of 2 days per week, with opportunities for professional development

Qualifications

• Experience working with children and families in early intervention or education settings.
• Strong Auslan linguistics and grammar.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to build trusted relationships.
• Commitment to confidential, family-centred practice and ethics.
• Valid Working With Children Check and NDIS Workers Check.

Responsibilities

• Deliver Auslan sessions during individual early intervention sessions and group programs.
• Work with Teachers of the Deaf, Allied Health professionals and Key Workers to plan and deliver sessions.
• Support children’s Auslan language development through storytelling and play-based learning.
• Create opportunities for parents and families to build Auslan skills through classes and coaching.
• Maintain accurate client records and documentation in line with policies.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure safe, high-quality family-centred services.
