Job summary

African Underground Mining Services in Australia seeks an experienced Underground Longhole Driller to join our Western Australia operations. The role involves drilling to design patterns using mechanised rigs, while upholding strict safety and regulatory standards.

You will work with surveyors, geologists and engineers to optimise drill patterns, set up and troubleshoot DL431/DL421 rigs, and operate with minimal supervision on a 6 weeks on/3 weeks off roster.

Qualifications

• Minimum five years’ underground longhole drilling experience.
• Experience in training a national workforce.
• Proven safety record in underground mining environments.
• Knowledge of underground mining practices and drill pattern design.
• Ability to operate with minimal supervision.
• Strong experience with DL431 and DL421 rigs.

Responsibilities

• Drill longhole patterns to design using mechanised drill.
• Follow safety, mining and statutory regulations at all times.
• Read mine instruction plans and drill to design line, gradient, and profile.
• Coordinate with surveyors, geologists and engineers to optimise patterns and metres.
• Set up and troubleshoot Longhole Drill rigs.
• Assess face conditions and adjust height per site requirements.

We are actively seeking anExperienced Longhole Drillerto join us in our African Operations.The roster on offer is 6 weeks on and 3 weeks off.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Make sure that the relevant Safety, Mining and other statutory Codes and Regulations are followed.
• Accurately drilling a series of Longhole to a design pattern using a mechanised drill.
• Reads and accurately follows mine instruction plans with skill and precision ensuring holes are drilled to design line, gradient, and profile.
• Communicate with surveyors, geologists, and engineers to optimise drill patters and metres.
• Set up and troubleshoot on Longhole Drill rigs.
• Accesses face conditions at the start of the job and scale from height according to site requirements.

Essential Requirements:

• A demonstrated passion for safety and a proactive attitude toward ensuring that safety is front of mind for all employees at all times.
• Experience in training a national workforce.
• A minimum of five years’ experience in the Underground Mining Industry.
• A minimum of 5 years’ experience solely as an Underground Longhole Driller.
• Knowledge of Underground Mining Practices and the efficient operation of an Underground Longhole Machine.
• Highly organised and able to work efficiently with limited supervision.
• Strong experience operating DL431 and DL421 drill rigs essential.
