Job summary

AUMS, part of the Perenti group, seeks an experienced Underground High Voltage Electrician to operate within its African Operations on a 6 weeks on / 3 weeks off roster. The role focuses on high‑voltage electrical servicing, repairs, and training of national staff in HV preventative maintenance at the mine site.

The successful candidate will bring Australian HV qualifications, a proven supervisory track record, and the ability to transfer skills safely and efficiently in a hands‑on environment.

Qualifications

• Must hold an unrestricted Australian electrical licence.
• Completed a high voltage switching course.
• Be conversant with AS/NZS electrical standards and cable selection.
• Experience with Flygt pump repairs and maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Carry out scheduled servicing for 1000V, 11kV and 33kV systems safely.
• Perform repairs per AUMS procedures and complete service sheets.
• Mentor and train National electrical personnel; support a constructive team environment.
• Report faults and schedule maintenance with the Electrical Foreman.

Job description

We are actively seeking an experienced Underground High Voltage Electrician to join us in our African Operations on a 6 week on, 3 weeks off roster.

The ideal candidate will come with the following experience & knowledge.

• Be conversant with Australian AS NZS 3000:2018 electrical installations – AS NZS 3008.1.1:2025 selection of cables – AS NZS 3017:2022 testing & inspection guidelines.
• possess current Australian electrical licence – unrestricted.
• Have completed a high voltage switching course.
• Have experience with Flygt pump repairs & maintenance – oversee rebuilds of pumps to maintain spare pumps for immediate use.
• High voltage installations & testing– including inline joins, 11kv plug terminations.
• Supervisory and Training experience a MUST.

This position is a hands‑on role and responsible in ensuring the effective transfer of skills and knowledge to National electrical personnel in HV preventative, scheduled and breakdown maintenance at the mine site, with all work performed in a safe and efficient manner.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Carry out scheduled (1000v, 11kv and 33kv) electrical servicing in a safe manner and in accordance with procedures, regulations, and the service sheet.
• Carry out all repairs in accordance with AUMS procedures.
• Completes all service sheets and document additional repairs completed during servicing.
• Maintains a high level of housekeeping in the workshop and working areas at all times.
• Read and interpret Service and Spare parts manuals.
• Advise the electrical workshop supervisors of parts used and any additional part requirements.
• Train and mentor National electrical personnel to support a constructive team environment.
• Report all equipment faults to the Electrical Foreman for scheduling into the weekly electrical maintenance plan.
• Monitor shift reports – schedule any outstanding work from the previous shift.
• Monitor the availability of tools & test instruments given to the national employees & carry out weekly inspections of tool bags.
