A local government council is seeking an Independent Member for its Audit and Risk Committee, requiring expertise in financial management and internal controls. The position offers the flexibility of meeting at least five times a year and is crucial for providing independent advice on governance and risk management. Adelaide Plains Council is seeking suitably qualified and experienced members of the public to sit as Independent Members on Council’s Audit and Risk Committee.
The purpose of the Audit and Risk Committee is to provide independent assurance and advice to the Council on accounting, financial management, internal controls, risk management and governance matters.
The committee meets at least five times per year, with meeting dates and times scheduled in consultation with members. The appointment is for an initial term of two years with an option to renew for a further two years, subject to Council approval.
Applicants should possess appropriate qualifications, knowledge and experience in one or more of the following areas:
Independent Members will be remunerated at a level commensurate with their skills and experience, based on meeting attendance.
