Job summary

PQE Partners Pty is expanding its Melbourne practice and seeks an Associate or Senior Associate to work closely with a Partner and a team of leading property practitioners.

You will handle a broad suite of property disputes, advice, and litigation, with hands-on mentoring from a Senior Partner and ongoing opportunities to develop your expertise in Victorian legislation and complex disputes.

Qualifications

• 4+ years' PQE in property law or property-related disputes.
• Experience in property-related disputes and commercial or property litigation.
• Exposure to VCAT, Supreme Court and/or Federal Court proceedings.
• Strong drafting and client management skills.
• Collaborative approach with a view to developing technical expertise.

Responsibilities

• Work across a varied mix of property-related disputes, litigation and advisory matters.
• Draft court documents, legal correspondence and client advice.
• Manage matters and attend court hearings.
• Brief counsel and prepare witness and expert evidence.
• Collaborate with Partner and Melbourne team to grow the local practice.

As the firm continues to grow its Melbourne practice, they are looking to appoint an Associate or Senior Associate to work closely with an accomplished Partner and a broader team of leading practitioners in this space.

The Partner is hands-on, supportive and committed to developing the lawyers within their team. For someone looking to deepen their property litigation experience, the role offers a strong combination of quality work, direct Partner exposure and genuine mentorship.

You will work across a varied mix of property-related disputes, litigation and advisory matters, including:

• Property development, strata, insurance and broader property matters
• Commercial and contractual disputes
• Construction disputes and building defect claims
• Strata and community title disputes, with a particular focus on Victorian legislation
• Collective sales and scheme terminations
• Drafting court documents, legal correspondence and client advice
• Managing matters and attending court hearings
• Briefing counsel and preparing witness and expert evidence
• Preparing matters for interlocutory and final hearings

The firm is open to a Senior Associate or a strong Associate looking to take the next step in their career. You will ideally have:

• 4+ years' PQE
• Experience in property law and/or property-related disputes
• Commercial or property litigation experience
• Strata and community titles experience would be highly regarded
• Exposure to VCAT, Supreme Court and/or Federal Court proceedings
• Strong drafting and client management skills
• A collaborative approach and an interest in continuing to develop your technical expertise
