Job summary

Alkimos College, located in the northern suburb of Alkimos, is seeking an experienced Associate Principal to join our college executive team. You will work closely with the principal and leadership to promote the college vision, oversee Year 7 cohort, Year 6 transitions, and lead teaching and learning initiatives.

The role requires exceptional communication, interpersonal skills and the ability to energize teams, build relationships with stakeholders, and implement new initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Executive oversight of the Year 7 cohort and Year 6 transition.

• Line management of designated learning areas and coordination of portfolios as required.
• Expand portfolios to support transition and retirement planning.

Job description

This is a permanent full-time position commencing Term 1, 2027.

Alkimos College is seeking to appoint a highly effective and empowered individual to join our growing executive team.

Located in the northern suburb of Alkimos with sweeping ocean views, Alkimos College opened in 2020 with our foundation Year 7 cohort, providing local intake area students with access to an exceptional secondary education in world-class learning facilities. Stage 1 buildings include administration, lower school student services, library, gymnasium, fitness centre, food studios, cafeteria, Information Technology labs, technologies workshops, general classrooms, science laboratories, and nature play area. Shared oval and community facilities with the City of Wanneroo are available via the adjacent Halesworth Park precinct. Stage 2 (rolled out in 2024), includes a performing arts centre, lecture theatre, senior school student services centre and general classrooms.

The Role

We are ideally looking for an applicant with outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, who is committed to achieving optimal outcomes for all students. These skills will see you negotiate effectively and build and maintain strong relationships with all stakeholders, as we continue to grow the college. We are looking for someone ideally highly motivated, energetic, with a sense of humour, and who possesses the qualities needed to bring people together, inspire confidence, identify opportunities, and establish new initiatives.

The Associate Principal will be an integral part of the college executive team. They will work closely with the principal, executive and leadership teams to develop and promote the college vision, motto, and values in the school community. Related leadership and management responsibilities may include: executive oversight of the Year 7 cohort, Year 6 transition, and in conjunction with the principal - executive oversight of teaching and learning (including the Teaching and Learning Committee, Instructional Coaches and the Alkimos Instructional Program), executive oversight of professional learning, executive oversight of the Department Academic Select Gifted and Talented Program and school based academic extension program and line management of designated learning areas. Additional portfolios will be determined based on the recommended applicant’s skill set, business needs of the college, and to ensure continuity with the transition to retirement of one of the substantive Associate Principals. Eagerness to expand skills in additional portfolios is therefore highly desirable.
