Job summary

u&u Recruitment Partners in Brisbane is seeking an Associate Mechanical Engineer to lead and deliver mechanical building services projects from concept to construction. This senior, hands-on role requires steering medium to large projects across defence, commercial, health and transport sectors.

You will mentor engineers, work closely with clients as a trusted advisor, and influence how projects and teams are set up for success with genuine hybrid flexibility and a culture of trust.

Qualifications

• 8+ years' experience in mechanical building services engineering.
• Track record leading medium to large projects within a consultancy.
• Strong technical grounding across HVAC and mechanical systems.
• Solid knowledge of Australian Standards, NCC and authority requirements.
• Comfortable managing projects, clients and multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical design and delivery on medium to large-scale building services projects.
• Own project outcomes end to end, from concept through to construction.
• Mentor and provide technical direction to engineers across the team.
• Manage scope, programme and budget to keep delivery on track.
• Work closely with architects, other disciplines and external stakeholders.
• Build lasting client relationships that bring in repeat work.
• Check designs and documentation for technical quality, compliance and buildability.

About the Role

u&u are partnering with a well-regarded engineering consultancy to bring on an Associate Mechanical Engineer for their Brisbane Building Services team.

It's a senior, hands-on role. You'll be entrusted with steering medium to large projects from concept through to completion, across a portfolio that spans defence, commercial, health and transport work, so no two weeks look the same.

Beyond the technical delivery, this is a chance to shape a team. You'll mentor engineers coming up through the business, work closely with clients as a trusted advisor, and have a real say in how projects and people are set up to succeed. It suits someone who's done the hard yards in consulting and is ready for more ownership, in a workplace that backs flexibility and trust rather than just talking about it.

Key Responsibilities

About You

• Please note: Australian citizenship is required due to the nature of the projects.
