Job summary

DXC Technology is seeking an experienced Performance Test Engineer to design, plan, execute, and analyse performance and load tests for applications and APIs. Qualifications

• 3+ years of hands-on performance testing/engineering experience.
• Strong experience in API testing and API performance testing.
• Experience creating Performance Test Plans and Performance Test Strategies.
• Experience defining workload models, performance scenarios, test objectives, acceptance criteria, and performance KPIs.
• Experience with performance testing tools such as SmartBear LoadNinja, LoadUI, or similar tools.
• Strong understanding of REST APIs, HTTP/HTTPS, JSON, XML, and API authentication.
• Experience with load, stress, spike, endurance/soak, scalability, and capacity testing.
• Ability to analyse performance metrics including response time, throughput, concurrency, error rate, CPU, memory, DB, and network usage.
• Experience with SQL and database performance analysis.
• Good understanding of Agile/Scrum methodologies.

Responsibilities

• Develop Performance Test Plans, including objectives, scope, workload models, test scenarios, entry/exit criteria, environments, test data, risks, and reporting requirements.
• Define and implement performance test strategies aligned with application architecture and business requirements.
• Design and execute performance, load, stress, spike, endurance/soak, and scalability tests.
• Develop performance test scripts and scenarios for web applications and REST/API services.
• Perform API performance testing, including testing response times, throughput, concurrent users, error rates, and system behavior under load.
• Establish performance baselines and define appropriate performance benchmarks and acceptance criteria.
• Analyse performance test results and identify bottlenecks across application, API, database, infrastructure, or network.
• Produce detailed performance test reports with findings, trends, analysis, and recommendations.
• Work with developers, QA, DevOps, architects, and infra teams to investigate and resolve performance issues.
• Support performance testing across environments and releases.
• Integrate performance tests into CI/CD pipelines where applicable.
• Maintain performance testing docs, scripts, data, and results.
• Provide recommendations for performance improvements, scalability, and capacity planning.

We are looking for an experienced Performance Test Engineer to design, plan, execute, and analyse performance and load tests for applications and APIs. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience in performance testing and API testing, with the ability to create comprehensive performance test plans and strategies.

Experience with SmartBear performance testing tools would be highly desirable.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop Performance Test Plans, including objectives, scope, workload models, test scenarios, entry/exit criteria, environments, test data, risks, and reporting requirements.
• Define and implement performance test strategies aligned with application architecture and business requirements.
• Design and execute performance, load, stress, spike, endurance/soak, and scalability tests.
• Develop performance test scripts and scenarios for web applications and REST/API services.
• Perform API performance testing, including testing response times, throughput, concurrent users, error rates, and system behaviour under load.

Required Skills And Experience

• 3+ years of hands-on experience in performance testing/performance engineering.
• Strong experience in API testing and API performance testing.
• Demonstrated experience creating Performance Test Plans and Performance Test Strategies.
• Experience defining workload models, performance scenarios, test objectives, acceptance criteria, and performance KPIs.
• Experience with performance testing tools such as SmartBear LoadNinja, LoadUI, or similar tools.
• Strong understanding of REST APIs, HTTP/HTTPS, JSON, XML, and API authentication.
• Experience with performance testing types including load, stress, spike, endurance/soak, scalability, and capacity testing.
• Ability to analyse performance metrics such as response time, throughput, concurrency, error rate, CPU, memory, database, and network utilisation.
• Experience with SQL and database performance analysis.
• Good understanding of Agile/Scrum methodologies.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and documentation skills.

Desirable Skills

• Hands-on experience with SmartBear tools.
• Experience with JMeter, LoadRunner, Gatling, k6, or other performance testing tools.
• Experience integrating performance testing into CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Experience with APM/monitoring tools such as Dynatrace, AppDynamics, New Relic, or similar.
• Knowledge of Docker/Kubernetes and distributed systems.
• Experience with capacity planning and production performance analysis.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate should be capable of owning the performance testing lifecycle end-to-end – from understanding requirements and writing the Performance Test Plan and strategy, through designing workloads and API tests, executing performance tests, analysing results, identifying bottlenecks, and presenting clear recommendations to technical and business stakeholders.

SmartBear experience is highly desirable. However, candidates with strong performance testing and API testing experience using comparable tools should also be considered.
