Job summary

EREA Flexible Schools Ltd – Deception Bay invites applications for an Associate Head of Campus role to lead day-to-day operations and support the Head of Campus. The successful candidate will model reflective leadership and drive programs for at-risk learners within a trauma-informed framework.

The role requires tertiary teaching qualifications, willingness to drive buses, and a strong commitment to EREA’s Touchstones of Respect, Justice and Participation across a multidisciplinary team.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualifications in Teaching with eligibility for teacher registration with Queensland College of Teachers.
• Open Driver's license and willingness to drive school buses.
• Demonstrated commitment to EREA values and building just communities based on the Touchstones of Respect, Gospel Spirituality, Justice and Solidarity and Liberating Education.
• Demonstrated leadership in developing and maintaining programs for young people at risk and engaging staff through reflective pratice.
• Experience in trauma transformative practice and wellbeing support to help disenfranchised learners re-engage with education.
• Ability to develop and implement learning choices and assessments for diverse learners at risk.
• Commitment to lead a multi-disciplinary team under four operation principles: Respect, Safe and Legal, Honesty, Participation.

Responsibilities

• Lead Deception Bay Campus operations in partnership with Head of Campus and Area Principal.
• Ensure compliance with Queensland teacher registration and regulatory standards.
• Drive program development for at‑risk youth and oversee wellbeing initiatives.
• Support trauma-informed practices and learner identity development.
• Coordinate learning options and assessments for diverse learning needs.
• Foster a collaborative, multi-disciplinary community focused on Respect, Safety, Honesty and Participation.

Associate Head of Campus: Deception Bay Flexible School

ABOUT THE ROLE

This position exists to provide leadership support across Deception Bay Flexible School. This leadership role is broad in its scope and encompasses supporting the Head of Campus for the Deception Bay Campus and managing the day-to-day operations. The role works in close cooperation with the Head of Campus and the Area Principal.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Demonstrated leadership of the development and maintenance of programs for young people at risk. Substantial knowledge of, and experience in, educational leadership (as identified in the Key Accountabilities). The person needs to be able to demonstrate an ability to assist staff in this area and to engage in reflective practice on how to best enhance learning for disenfranchised young people and maintain compliance with regulatory bodies.
• Demonstrated experience and ability to provide leadership in trauma transformative practice and wellbeing support that supports young people to build a learner identity, achieve positive social outcomes, and re-engage in education.
• Demonstrated ability in developing and implementing a range of learning choices and assessments that meet the diverse characteristics, needs and learning styles of young people at risk.
• Commitment to and ability to lead a multi-disciplinary community in reflection around working together under four principles of operation: Respect, Safe and Legal, Honesty and Participation. The principles establish a "common ground" among staff, young people and families, where the means to resolve difference, negotiate learning, recognise rights, responsibilities and consequences are modelled and explored, both within the group and individually.

ABOUT THE ORGANISATION

Edmund Rice Education Australia (EREA) Flexible Schools Ltd currently educates over 2,700 young people in 22 Flexible Learning Schools (12 based in Queensland and 10 other schools across Australia) and two Special Education Services Schools in NSW, with approximately 800 staff nationally. Flexi schools serve young people who experience complex educational, social or psychological situations which demand unique responses. They enable young people to engage in education in a supported learning environment through a methodology based on trauma informed practice, to co-create a Common Ground using Operation by Principles, in which the principles of Honesty, Respect, Participation, Safe & Legal are embedded.
