Job summary

SMEC is seeking an Associate Electrical Engineer to join the rail team in Sydney. You will design and deliver LV/HV, earthing and bonding components for rail projects across Australia and contribute to reports, drawings and tender packages.

You will bring 8+ years of electrical design experience, familiarity with Australian codes, and tools like AutoCAD/Revit. The role offers a hybrid work model and opportunities to work on national projects.

Qualifications

• Requires relevant tertiary qualifications in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• 8+ years’ industry experience.
• Experience preparing detailed electrical design documentation across rail and other transport infrastructure projects.

Responsibilities

• Design and delivery of lighting, low voltage, high voltage, earthing and bonding engineering services for various rail projects.
• Production of engineering drawings, reports, specifications and tender packages from preliminary through to construction.
• Conducting feasibility studies, load calculations and site inspections.
• Reviewing electrical designs, ensuring that analysis and design tasks meet technical standards and client/SMEC requirements.
• Production of engineering reports and supporting tender proposals.
• Collaborating with team members, contributors and stakeholders to maintain quality, timeliness and coordination of project deliverables.
