Job summary

AECOM is seeking an experienced Associate Director Structural Engineer to lead and grow the Building Engineering team in Perth. You will drive delivery of major projects across health, defence, transport, and data centres, while shaping the Perth capability within the national Building Engineering group.

You will mentor the structural team, maintain high technical quality, manage client relationships, and contribute to business development to sustain a robust project pipeline across Australia.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Civil Engineering with 15+ years of consultancy experience.
  • Chartered status (CPEng) is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of Australian codes and standards.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.

Responsibilities

  • Lead delivery of complex structural and multi-disciplinary building projects across sectors in Australia.
  • Oversee design and end-to-end project delivery with cross-discipline coordination.
  • Develop client relationships and grow pipeline for Perth projects.

Job Description

The Role

Due to continued growth, we are looking for an experienced Associate Director Structural Engineer - to help lead and grow our Building Engineering team in Perth.

This role offers a rare chance to step into an Associate Director position within our National Building Engineering team, contributing to landmark projects across ANZ while helping to grow and shape our Perth-based team.

How you’ll make a difference:

  • Lead the delivery of complex structural and multi-disciplinary building projects across sectors including health, defence, transport, commercial, aviation and data centres throughout Australia.
  • Oversee structural design and end-to-end project delivery, ensuring technical quality and seamless coordination across other disciplines within AECOM.
  • Utilise your local network and outstanding communication skills to strengthen existing business relationships, cultivate new client connections, and support business development ensuring to maintain a robust pipeline of structural and major building projects.
  • Provide leadership and mentoring to the structural team while helping grow AECOM’s presence and capability in Perth as part of the national Building Engineering group.
Qualifications

The following qualifications and experience are highly desired, but if you don’t tick all the boxes, you could still be a perfect fit for this role.

  • Bachelor of Civil Engineering (or equivalent) with 15+ years of consultancy experience delivering structural engineering projects in the buildings industry.
  • Chartership with Engineers Australia (CPEng), other registrations highly regarded.
  • Strong technical expertise in structural design, with a thorough understanding of Australian codes, standards and regulations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, contractors, consultants and stakeholders.
  • Proven competency in project and commercial management, with a track record of successfully leading complex projects.
  • Demonstrated personal drive to excel in the industry and mentor others to achieve high performance.
