Job summary

Maven Partners in Melbourne is seeking an Associate Director for its Business Advisory & Private Clients practice, offering a genuine, clearly articulated pathway to Director (Partner-equivalent) within the next 3–5 years.

The successful candidate will own an established portfolio around $750k in client fees, with the autonomy to grow it toward $1.5m, while mentoring staff and working with Partners across Tax Advisory, Corporate Finance, Wealth Management and Family Office.

Maven Partners has been exclusively retained by a highly regarded Top 20 accounting and advisory firm in Melbourne to appoint an Associate Director within its Business Advisory & Private Clients practice, offering a genuine and clearly articulated pathway to Director (Partner-equivalent) within the next 3–5 years.

This is a strategic, succession-focused Partner-elect opportunity, working closely with three established Partners who are committed to developing the next generation of leadership within the practice.

The Opportunity

The appointed individual will take ownership of an established portfolio of approximately $750k in client fees, with the support, autonomy and mandate to grow this towards $1.5m, a key milestone for progression to Partnership.

The client base is sophisticated and diverse, offering exposure well beyond traditional Business Services compliance, including:

• Larger corporate and privately owned groups.
• International businesses and inbound foreign subsidiaries.
• Complex private groups, family-owned businesses and SMEs.
• High-net-worth and ultra-high-net-worth individuals and family groups.

The breadth of the portfolio provides significant opportunity to work across complex accounting, taxation, structuring and broader commercial advisory matters.

Beyond client management, there is genuine scope to lead and shape an established team, develop its technical capabilities and play a meaningful role in the future direction of the practice.

You will also benefit from working closely with the firm’s broader specialist practices, including Tax Advisory, Corporate Finance, Wealth Management and Family Office.

About You

We are interested in speaking with accomplished Senior Managers and Associate Directors from a Business Services / Business Advisory / Private Clients background who bring:

• Strong technical expertise across accounting, taxation and complex private group structures.
• Experience advising sophisticated privately owned businesses, corporate groups and high-net-worth clients.
• Demonstrated leadership capability and a genuine interest in mentoring and developing people.
• Commercial acumen, business development capability and the ambition to grow a substantial client portfolio.

Exposure to international clients, inbound subsidiaries, and/or tax effect accounting would be advantageous.
