Job summary

Black & White Engineering is seeking an Associate Director – Mechanical in Melbourne. You will lead mechanical design for data centre and critical infrastructure projects across the Asia Pacific region, mentor engineers and shape the company’s regional growth.

You will oversee HVAC design, reviews, and documentation, ensuring high quality and Right First Time outcomes. You will drive technical authority across a complex discipline while coordinating with other engineering fields and contributing

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree (BSc, BEng or B.Tech) in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• Chartered Engineer status, or working towards it, ideally with professional bodies.
• Significant experience in mechanical engineering design across building typologies (data centres a plus).
• Proven track record delivering complex projects against technical and commercial objectives.
• Experience leading and mentoring multi-disciplinary engineering teams.
• Proficiency in industry design software such as HAP, Hevacomp, IES or BIM 360.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership on mission-critical mechanical design projects (data centres and infrastructure).
• Lead mechanical engineering design, oversee drawings and documentation, ensure right-first-time delivery.
• Coordinate with other disciplines and chair technical meetings to influence project delivery.
• Mentor and develop engineers, contributing to leadership development and technical committee input.
• Represent the firm in client meetings and proposals, supporting business growth.
