Job summary

Cuscal Limited is seeking an Associate Database Administrator to help manage Oracle and SQL Server environments within its Cloud, Data & Infrastructure group. The role focuses on operational DBA tasks, performance, backups, and high availability for mission-critical Australian payments systems.

The successful candidate will work with Senior DBAs and other tech teams in a hybrid model, supporting on-call rotations and occasional paid overtime as required.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years’ experience in database administration; 2-3 years considered if strong
• Experience with Microsoft SQL Server administration
• Experience with large-scale, highly available production environments
• Strong SQL scripting and problem-solving skills
• Knowledge of backup, recovery, high availability, and DR principles
• Willingness to participate in a rostered on-call rotation and overtime

Responsibilities

• Provide operational DBA support across Oracle and SQL Server environments
• Monitor, maintain, and troubleshoot database performance, availability, and reliability
• Support database maintenance, upgrades, backups, and recovery activities
• Contribute to operational projects and continuous improvement initiatives
• Collaborate with Senior DBAs, infrastructure teams, and application teams
• Participate in an on-call roster to provide after-hours support for business-critical systems
