Job summary

Suncorp’s AI & Data Science Centre of Excellence in Australia seeks an Associate Data Scientist to develop experiments, prototypes and production solutions that improve customer outcomes. You will work with business teams, technical specialists and external partners to shape iterative solutions in an agile setting.

This full-time, permanent role requires a technical bachelor degree and at least two years of commercial data science experience, with knowledge of Generative AI, ML and NLP, and

Qualifications

• Advanced technical bachelor degree required.
• At least two years of commercial experience in complex data science or multivariate analysis.
• Experience delivering complex data science models and systems.
• Experience using Jenkins, DBeaver, Posit/VS Code, Bitbucket/Git, Databricks and UiPath Maestro preferred.
• Understanding of Generative AI technologies including prompt engineering, retrieval augmented generation and agents.
• Practical knowledge of machine learning, predictive analytics, NLP or tree-based approaches.

Responsibilities

• Engage with business customers to understand their needs and identify valuable data science opportunities.
• Translate business requirements into iterative solution designs that support timely delivery.
• Evaluate data sources and analytical techniques to improve business and customer outcomes.
• Develop complex data, models, algorithms and technical advice within an agile framework.
• Check analytical components for quality, reasonableness and risk management.
• Collaborate with technical specialists, business teams and external partners throughout project delivery.
