Job summary

Bartier Perry's Sydney CBD Corporate & Commercial team is seeking an Associate with broad transactional and advisory experience to join them. Having been recognised for the last 6 years running as a finalist for Commercial Team of the Year, this is a chance to work with an outstanding group of Corporate and Commercial lawyers in a collaborative and nurturing environment.

While based in our Sydney CBD office, we all have the opportunity to work flexibly and remotely.

Qualifications

• 4+ years post-admission in commercial and corporate law with drafting, negotiation and advisory skills.
• Experience in M&A, shareholder and partnership arrangements, corporate governance and restructuring preferred.
• Excellent written and verbal communication and attention to detail.
• Strong legal technical skills and ability to prioritise tasks; keen to learn about clients' businesses.

Responsibilities

• Handle commercial contracting across technology, privacy, IP, procurement and supply chain matters.
• Assist with corporate restructuring, succession planning and regulatory advisory work.
• Contribute to mergers and acquisitions, strategic investments and complex transactions.
• Support shareholder, partnership and governance advisory for private entities.
• Liaise with clients and progress files under senior supervision.

About The Team

Bartier Perry's Corporate & Commercial group is renowned for their robust expertise across all matters relating to corporate & commercial law.

Led by 6 highly-esteemed partners, the team undertakes a range of transactional and advisory work on behalf of public and private sector clients of varying sizes. They are trusted advisors to corporations and government agencies operating in diverse sectors, from manufacturing to transport, as well as education, government and technology.

As an Associate in the team, you will play a key role in matters, including:

• Commercial contracting across technology, privacy, intellectual property, procurement and supply chain matters.
• Corporate restructuring, succession planning and strategic regulatory advice for growth-stage and established businesses.
• Mergers and acquisitions, strategic investments and complex business transactions.
• Shareholder, partnership and governance advisory work for privately owned businesses and professional services firms.

You will be involved in client liaison, and have general day to day responsibility of progressing files under appropriate senior supervision.

About You

The ideal candidate will possess:

• A minimum of 4 years of post-admission experience in commercial and corporate law matters, including strong drafting, negotiation and advisory skills across a range of commercial, technology, privacy and intellectual property matters, and preferably with some experience also in M&A transactions, shareholder and partnership arrangements, corporate governance and restructuring matters
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and attention to detail
• Strong academic results
• Strong legal technical skills
• The ability to prioritise tasks and manage workflow
• An interest in learning about our clients and their business.
