Job summary

WSP in Australia is seeking an Associate or Senior Civil Engineer to join our Townsville water team. You will contribute to local water and wastewater projects, bringing extensive design experience and leadership to multi-disciplinary teams.

We value Chartered status, strong understanding of Australian standards, and proficiency with Civil 3D to deliver safe, efficient, and compliant solutions. Hybrid work options are available within the Townsville region.

Qualifications

• Degree-qualified Civil Engineer with 8+ years in consultancy, preferably water/wastewater design.
• Strong knowledge of Australian Standards and WSAA codes.
• Experience in design management and detailed design delivery.

Responsibilities

• Deliver civil designs across the full project lifecycle with technical precision.
• Produce and review high-quality documentation in line with standards.
• Lead or support design management for water and wastewater projects and program work packages.
• Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to deliver integrated solutions.
• Contribute to proposals and pursuits to win new projects.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Deliver civil designs across the full project lifecycle—bringing technical precision and creativity to every stage
• Produce and review high-quality documentation, ensuring clarity and compliance with industry standards
• Lead or support design management for diverse water and wastewater projects and program work packages
• Collaborate on multi-disciplinary projects, working with structural, mechanical, and environmental teams to deliver integrated solutions
• Contribute to proposals and pursuits, helping secure exciting new projects

What We’re Looking For

• Degree-qualified Civil Engineer (or equivalent)
• 8+ years’ experience in consultancy, ideally with water and wastewater infrastructure design
• Strong knowledge of Australian Standards and WSAA codes
• Experience in design management and detailed design delivery
• Familiarity with Civil 3D and a passion for digital engineering
• Understanding of Safety in Design principles
• Chartered status (or working towards it) highly regarded
• Ability to communicate effectively and thrive in a team environment
• Bonus: Experience in Design & Construction projects
