Job summary

Berkley Re, based in Australia, invites applications for an Assistant Underwriter role. You will support the underwriting team, work with experienced underwriters and brokers, and gain exposure to Financial Lines and General Liability.

As part of a collaborative team, you will handle renewals, policy documentation, broker enquiries and records in underwriting systems, developing your underwriting skills and building a foundation for a long-term career.

Qualifications

• Minimum two years' insurance experience, with a strong customer service and administrative background.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and business systems.
• Strong attention to detail, with the ability to process information quickly and accurately.
• Ability to manage high-volume workloads and competing priorities.
• Strong written communication skills, with the ability to work both collaboratively and independently while maintaining a service-oriented approach.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and process renewals, new business, cancellations and endorsements.
• Produce and issue policy documentation, including schedules, endorsements and certificates.
• Manage broker enquiries, quotes and follow-ups in a timely manner.
• Maintain accurate records, including registering submissions in underwriting systems.
• Support underwriting operations, including inbox management, administrative tasks and workflow coordination.
• Assist with risk research and debtor management to support underwriting decisions.
