Job summary

Shane Jackson Racing in Warrnambool is seeking an experienced Assistant Trainer to help manage the Warrnambool stable and lead daily operations. You will work closely with Shane to drive welfare, performance and team cohesion.

The role involves overseeing staff, coordinating routines, monitoring horse health, and communicating instructions to staff and riders to ensure high standards across the stable.

Qualifications

• Minimum racing industry experience is required.
• Able to confidently assess thoroughbreds and their health.
• Previous senior stable role is highly regarded.

Responsibilities

• Assist with day-to-day management of the Warrnambool stable.
• Oversee staff and coordinate daily stable operations.
• Manage horse treatments, medications and veterinary needs.
• Monitor horses and provide feedback on health and progress.
• Assist with planning work programs and relay instructions to staff.
• Attend jump-outs, trials and race meetings as required.
• Maintain high standards of horse care, presentation and stable organisation.
• Support the team to continually improve performance.

• Strong racing industry experience
• Confident handling and assessing thoroughbreds
• Comfortable taking responsibility within a busy stable
• Previous experience as an Assistant Trainer, Foreperson or in a senior stable position highly regarded
