Job summary

Park Hyatt Sydney is seeking an Assistant Sommelier to support the Hotel Sommelier in building a compelling wine list across the restaurant and bar. You will help with stock, cellar readiness, and staff guidance to enhance the guest dining experience.

The role requires strong service skills, a NSW RSA certificate, and prior fine-dining experience as waiting staff or assistant sommelier. A supportive team environment and opportunities for development are offered.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Hotel Sommelier to collate and maintain a wine list for the restaurant, bar and other outlets.
• Assist with ordering, collecting, checking and putting away stock.
• Assist in organizing wines before and during service.
• Ensure cellar and wine cool room are stocked and wines stored properly.
• Provide guests with wine recommendations aligned to dishes and ingredients.
• Maintain positive guest and colleague relationships and assist with guest enquiries.
• Demonstrate passion for wines and willingness to learn about wine and sommelier studies.

We are looking for an Assistant Sommelier to join our restaurant.

About the Role

• Assists the Hotel Sommelier to collate and maintain a wine list for the restaurant, bar and other food and beverage outlets that will enhance the cuisine and offer a broad spectrum wine of both domestic and imported nature.
• Assists the Hotel Sommelier to order, collect, check and put away stock
• Assists the Hotel Sommelier to be responsible for organising wines prior to and during service.
• To ensure that the cellar and wine cool room is stocked at all times and wines are stored in the appropriate manner.
• To provide guests with clear, helpful advice and recommendations of products to enhance the dining experience, taking into consideration the flavours and ingredients of the items ordered by the guest.
• Maintains positive guest and colleague interactions with good working relationships.
• Handles guest enquires in a courteous and efficient manner and report guest complaints or problems to supervisors if there is no immediate solution and assure follow up with guests.
• To have passion on wines and willing to learn about wine and drinks or sommelier related studies

Qualifications

To be considered for this role the candidate should possess the following:

• Excellent customer service and Interpersonal Skills.
• Current NSW RSA Certificate.
• Strong food and beverage service skills
• Sufficient experience as waiting staff or assistant sommelier in a fine dining restaurant or in a similar environment
