Job summary

UnitingCare Queensland is hiring an Assistant Retail Supervisor for the Thrift Emporium Shops in Capalaba. The role supports the Retail Supervisor to deliver great customer service, manage staff and volunteers, and drive store performance.

You will help with pricing, merchandising and promotions while upholding our values and mission. The position offers permanent full-time hours (Sun–Thu) with salary packaging benefits, NFP perks, and a commission program for high performers.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience in retail management (or hospitality management) including coaching and mentoring people.
  • Ability to deliver a high level of customer service and exceed customer expectations.
  • Willingness to learn fundamentals of all store roles, including customer service, visual presentation and stock control.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate passion for Thrift Emporium and promote its purpose to the community.
  • Support the Retail Supervisor in all aspects of a retail operation and delegate responsibilities to meet targets.
  • Work with staff and volunteers on pricing, merchandising, promotions and selling techniques to maintain profitability.
  • Maintain effective communication within the team and with regional support and external stakeholders; assist with customer enquiries.

Employment Details

Employment Term: Permanent Full Time (Sunday – Thursday)


Location: Capalaba (Brand New Store!)


Remuneration: $28.89 p/hr + Super + NFP Salary Packaging (save tax and increase your take home pay) + commission program for high performers

Your responsibilities


  • Demonstrate a passion for Thrift Emporium and its purpose, promoting its service and value to the community through personal actions, behaviours, practices and outcomes

  • Support the Retail Supervisor in all aspects of a retail operation and delegate responsibilities where appropriate to ensure sound business practices are adhered to and sales targets are achieved

  • Work with staff and volunteers to review and monitor pricing, visual merchandising, promotional events and selling techniques to ensure that profitability is maintained and improved

  • Maintain effective communication channels within direct team, regional support functions and external stakeholders and provide assistance to team members in handling customer complaints / enquiries.

  • Identify issues and opportunities based on selling and customer feedback

  • Set objectives and prioritise tasks, ensuring objectives are tied to overall business strategy

  • Coach and develop direct reports daily, ensuring development goals are linked to business objectives and improved performance

  • Be passionate about Thrift Emporium and be able to articulate its purpose

  • Demonstrated experience in retail management (or hospitality management), including experience in coaching and mentoring people

  • Ability to deliver a high level of customer service and exceed customer expectations

  • Demonstrate enthusiasm and eagerness to learn the fundamentals of all store roles, including but not limited to customer service, visual presentation, online marketing and stock control

  • Communicate promotional event information to maximise results

  • Identifyissues and opportunities based on trends and customer feedback

  • Setting and exceeding priorities to meet daily deadlines; developing plans to meet short-term objectives

  • Ability to use a retail business systems, POS and Microsoft Office
