Job summary

St Mary MacKillop College, Canberra, is seeking an Assistant Principal Academic Care to provide strategic oversight of curriculum, assessment, reporting and student achievement. Working with the Principal and College Executive, you will shape high-quality teaching programs and ensure compliance with the Australian Curriculum and CACGEL requirements.

You will develop leadership capacity among faculty, drive improvement through data, and support staff professional growth in a welcoming Catholic

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Education or Master of Teaching; WWVP clearance; TQI registration; Postgraduate in Religious Education or Theological Studies; Master’s or five-year equivalent; Practicing Catholic connection.

Responsibilities

  • Strategic and operational oversight of curriculum, assessment, reporting and student academic achievement.
  • Lead development, implementation and evaluation of high-quality teaching and learning programs.
  • Ensure compliance with the Australian Curriculum, ACT BSSS and CACGEL requirements; drive continuous improvement through student data.

The Assistant Principal Academic Care is a key member of the St Mary MacKillop College Executive, providing strategic leadership in curriculum, assessment, reporting, and student academic achievement. This leadership opportunity is suited to an experienced educator who can lead curriculum innovation, enhance academic achievement, shape student learning outcomes, and support the professional growth of staff.

Salary Range: $179,184plus superannuation
Employment Status:Full-time
Eligibility:Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident
Start Date:Monday, 25 January 2026, Term One

About the Role

The Assistant Principal Academic Care is a senior leadership position responsible for providing strategic and operational oversight of curriculum, assessment, reporting, and student academic achievement at the College. Working in close partnership with the Principal and College Executive, the role leads the development, implementation, and evaluation of high-quality teaching and learning programs, ensuring compliance with the Australian Curriculum, ACT Board of Senior Secondary Studies (BSSS) and CACGEL requirements and continuous improvement through the effective use of student performance data. The Assistant Principal Academic Care supports and develops the leadership capacity of Faculty Coordinators, strengthens pathways and partnerships within and beyond the College, and ensures that all aspects of academic life are grounded in the Vision and Josephite charism of St Mary MacKillop College.
