Fresh Dental Care Grafton in Grafton, NSW, is seeking an Assistant Practice Manager to support the Practice Manager, coach a high-performing team, and ensure exceptional patient experiences in a friendly, busy dental clinic.

This part-time role (30 hours across Monday to Friday, with Saturdays required) offers hands-on leadership, ongoing development, and the opportunity to contribute to efficient clinic operations, financial administration, and patient care.

Qualifications

• 2–3 years of senior health reception experience or a practice manager seeking a step back.
• Ability to commute between Grafton, Macksville & Coffs Harbour if required.
• Willing to learn dental operations and grow within the role.
• Strong leadership and administrative skills.
• Confident in resolving customer issues and handling difficult conversations.
• Financial administration duties including daily takings and Medicare/HICAPS processing.
• Capable of understanding financial performance and cost management.

Responsibilities

The purpose of the Assistant Practice Manager role is to

support the Practice Manager in coaching, leading and developing a high-performing practice team in a positive environment for both staff and patients, while also overseeing patient management, including greeting and welcoming patients, answering phone inquiries, making and confirming appointments and managing customer accounts.

• Strong leadership and administrative skills
• Able to commute between Grafton, Macksville & Coffs Harbour if required
• 2-3 years of senior health reception experience or a practice manager wanting to take a step back
• Willing to learn dental operations and grow within the role
• Experienced in business and people management
• Able to demonstrate excellent organisational, administrative, and time-management abilities
• Skilled in communication, interpersonal relations and customer service
• Capable of understanding financial performance, including generating income and managing costs
• Confident in handling challenging conversations and resolving issues promptly
• Comfortable engaging with a diverse range of people, from dentists and patients to practice teams
• Financial admin - daily takings, Medicare/HICAPS processing, treatment plan coordination.
• Staff support - onboarding, training and performance guidance.
• Healthcare compliance - solid understanding of infection control and regulatory requirements
• Proactive and solutions-focused, with strong business acumen
