Job summary

Glencore Mount Isa Mines is seeking a Laboratory Assistant to support metallurgical operations. You will prepare and analyse metallurgical samples, ensure QA/QC adherence, and contribute to timely analytical results within a safety-focused lab in Mount Isa, Queensland.

The role is residential in Mount Isa, with a 4 day/4 night roster option or day shift. You will work in a fast-paced lab, upholding safety culture and quality standards.

Qualifications

• Experience in metallurgical sample preparation or the ability to learn.
• Experience in a laboratory environment desirable or part of a team
• Basic computer skills, particularly in Microsoft Word and Excel
• Experience with Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS), or the ability to learn.
• Understanding of QA/QC principles – Safety Conscious

Responsibilities

• Conduct sample preparation activities including sample collection, logging, drying, splitting and milling while maintaining sample integrity.
• Perform laboratory analyses and deliver accurate analytical results in a timely manner.
• Adhere to laboratory QA/QC procedures and quality standards.
• Actively participate in Safe Start meetings and maintain a strong commitment to workplace safety.
• Communicate laboratory workloads effectively during shift handovers.
• Assist with training and supporting laboratory team members in laboratory procedures and protocols.
• Support higher-level analytical work as required.
• Maintain professional communication with internal and external stakeholders.

Mount Isa Mines are seeking a motivated and safety-focused Laboratory Assistant to join our Metallurgical Operations Technical Services team. Reporting to the Laboratory Supervisor through the Leading Hand, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality sample preparation and laboratory analysis to support operational and metallurgical requirements.

Role is residentially based in Mount Isa, working a 4 day/ 4 night shift roster or options for Day shift only!
