  • Completion of foundational units in practice AND 120 hours of clinical placement in TAFE NSW Diplomas of Nursing.

About the Role

As an Assistant in Nursing, you’ll play a key role in supporting patients and residents across a diverse range of health services—from acute and subacute care to aged care, emergency, and community health.

Role intent

Under the guidance and supervision of a Registered Nurse, you will:

  • Deliver individualised, high-quality patient care within your scope of practice.
  • Assist patients with personal care, mobility, and communication needs to enhance independence and wellbeing.
  • Support nursing staff with technical and procedural tasks, including equipment setup and cleaning.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation to meet legislative and policy requirements.
  • Contribute to a safe, efficient, and patient-centred care environment.

Requirements
  • Certificate III Assistant in Nursing or currently enrolled in an undergraduate Registered Nursing degree (completion of first year and first semester or trimester of second year), or currently enrolled in a TAFE NSW Diplomas of Nursing (completion of identified foundational units in practice AND 120 hours of clinical placement).
