Job summary

Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority invites applications for an Assistant Director External Affairs to shape and lead external communications, stakeholder engagement and media management. The role sits in the Communications team, reporting to the Director Engagement and Communications, with a focus on proactive media and the voice of the agency.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience managing media protocols and highly sensitive issues.
• Experience developing and implementing stakeholder engagement plans.
• Understanding of agricultural and veterinary sectors and related regulation.

Responsibilities

• Drive the APVMA’s strategic external communications, stakeholder engagement and media management function.
• Lead media relations and respond to complex inquiries from government and other stakeholders.
• Collaborate with internal teams to position external communications and policies.
