Job summary

Department of Education in Canberra is seeking an Assistant Director/Comms Intelligence Security Officer to lead the COMSO function and oversee secure communications across the department.

You will develop security and business continuity policies, ensure PSPF compliance, build stakeholder relationships, and mentor the security team as part of the leadership group.

Responsibilities

• Manage the Communications Intelligence Security Officer (COMSO) function in the department by enforcing communications policies, procedures and controls and provide oversight to classified communications.
• Support the department to uplift its security posture by developing and maintaining security and business continuity policies, procedures, and frameworks in line with Australian government security guidelines, and the operational environment of the department.
• Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, policies, and procedures, including the Protective Security Policy Framework (PSPF).
• Foster strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including other government agencies, to ensure effective collaboration and information sharing.
• As a key member of the Security leadership team, manage a team of security professionals, offering guidance, support, and opportunities for development.

Eligibility
Citizenship - to be eligible for employment with the Department, you must be an Australian Citizen or, in limited circumstances, in the process of obtaining it.

Security Clearance - our successful candidate is required to hold, or have the ability to obtain, and maintain a Positive Vetting or TS/PAsecurity clearance.
