Job summary

Ngwala Willumbong Aboriginal Corporation is seeking an Assistant Accountant to support the Finance team with accurate financial records, reconciliations, reports, grants administration, and audit preparation. The role contributes to continuous improvement of systems and controls, while upholding Ngwala’s values and safety standards.

You will work closely with the Accountant and Finance Manager to ensure compliance with funding requirements and statutory obligations, delivering timely financial

Qualifications

• Qualification in Accounting, Finance, Commerce or related discipline, or currently undertaking a relevant tertiary qualification.
• Current Victorian Driver’s License
• Satisfactory Police Check
• Current Working with Children Check

Responsibilities

• Maintain the general ledger and accurately record financial transactions.
• Prepare journals, accruals, prepayments, and accounting adjustments.
• Complete balance sheet and general ledger reconciliations.
• Review transaction coding and cost centre allocations.
• Investigate and resolve routine accounting discrepancies.
• Support analysis of operational costs, income, and expenditure.
• Identify financial trends, variances, and unusual transactions.
• Assist with financial modelling, scenario analysis, and organisational projects.
